Toxic Torts

A toxic tort is an injury or wrong committed to the person or property of another, caused by contact with a toxic substance, such as toxic mold, lead paint, a faulty medical device, or a dangerous medication. Several federal laws are designed to protect citizens and the environment from toxic substances, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), which protects employees from unsafe conditions and dangerous substances at work. When large numbers of individuals are injured by the same defective product, they may join together in a class action lawsuit to hold manufacturers and sellers liable for the injuries caused by their defective products.
